UN calls on governments to prevent global shortages


The UN is estimating that over 1.8 billion people could face water shortages by 2025, and is calling on governments around the world to act now. In Lebanon – a country that regularly suffers water shortages – the World Bank is funding a massive project, that would increase Lebanese water reserves by 125 million cubic square meters. That’s the equivalent of about 50 Olympic-sized swimming pools. But the project has already hit snags with the locals, as Owen Holdaway reports
