Russian and Ukrainian Defence sources have confirmed reports of a Ukrainian counter-attack near the town of Bakhmut. The Russians say a thousand troops and 40 tanks have attacked along a 95 kilometre front, but deny their forces have been pushed back. Ukraine's defence ministry said they have made gains of up to 2 kilometres. The news comes a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country's Spring Offensive was not yet ready as our Europe correspondent Simon McGregor-Wood now reports.
