Turkish-American News Network · Since 2001
Alaturka Media Network is a Turkish-American news network founded in 2001. For 25 years, Alaturka has been where Turks living in the United States turn for news, community information and each other. Our motto in Turkish says it best: “Amerika’daki Aileniz” — Your Family in America.
How it started
Alaturka began in 2001 in Los Angeles as an email newsletter for Turkish students at the University of Southern California. In 2005 it became AlaturkaOnline.com, America’s first Turkish-language internet newspaper. In the years that followed came LimonList, the first Turkish-language classifieds site for Turks in America (2006), and the Alaturka Guide, a printed directory of Turkish-American businesses distributed in Los Angeles (2013). Today these pieces come together as one network.
What we do
- News: U.S. news that matters to Turkish Americans, written in Turkish — immigration, taxes, health, education, safety alerts and the community’s own stories.
- Events: a nationwide calendar of Turkish community events — concerts, festivals, galas, commemorations and meetups, state by state.
- Turkish businesses and associations: a free directory of Turkish-American businesses, professionals and community organizations.
- Classifieds: free listings for the community (LimonList).
- Guides: practical, regularly updated guides on life in America.

Independent and neutral
Alaturka is independent and has been self-funded since day one. Our editorial line is neutral: we do not take sides, we do not divide our community by religion or opinion, and we report what happens in America that matters to Turkish Americans. News is never removed for payment.
