Turkish stocks open week down

ANKARA

Turkey’s benchmark stock index started the week down 0.50% or 520.00 points to open at 102,551.80 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index soared 0.61% to close the week at 102,706.52 points with a daily trading volume of 7.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.7300 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday — up from 5.6830 compared to Friday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 6.3470, versus 6.2890, and one British pound traded for 7.1580 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0790 at the last close.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $65.45 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
