KABUL, Afghanistan
Another American soldier has been killed in action in Afghanistan, an official statement confirmed on Monday.
Without giving further details, the NATO-led Resolute Support mission said in a statement that in line with U.S. Defense Department policy, the name of the service member is being withheld until 24 hours after family notification is complete.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident.
The confirmation comes weeks after U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly cancelled peace talks with the Taliban over killing of an American soldier in the capital Kabul.
With the latest killing, the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Afghanistan this year climbed to 19.
