ISTANBUL, Turkey
Shane Larkin, American point guard of Turkish basketball club Anadolu Efes, is eager to play for Turkey’s national team.
Larkin, 26, said he would accept to be a part of the Turkey team if the Turkish Basketball Federation invited him.
But he does not have an official offer yet, Larkin said.
“There is no development. There are only rumors at the moment about me and the Turkish National Basketball Team. If Turkey offers me that opportunity that would be something I’m interested in as well. Playing in Olympic games is my childhood dream. I feel ready,” Larkin told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.
About the photo he shared on his social media account — wearing the jersey of Turkey’s national team with his name on it — he said: “Somebody from basketball federation visited us at our training. They gave me a jersey and in return I gave them a jersey. It is just a gift, and I posted a photo of it. I really appreciated it. That’s why I posted the picture,” he said.
Larkin has been playing for Anadolu Efes since 2018, helping the Istanbul team claim the Turkish Basketball Super League title. Larkin also has the NBA and EuroLeague experience.
