Greece: Afghan child killed near Moria refugee camp

ATHENS

A five-year-old Afghan boy has died in an accident near the Moria hotspot on the Greek island of Lesvos, local media reports said Tuesday.

The boy was playing inside a cardboard box in the courtyard of a building when a truck ran over him, state broadcaster ERT reported.

Police have arrested the driver.

It is unclear if the boy was a resident of Moria camp.

The Moria Reception and Identification Center on Lesvos Island houses 12,000 refugees in a facility designed for 3,000 people.

Due to overcrowding, thousands of people are forced to live in makeshift camps.
