Former French President Jacques Chirac dies at 86

ANKARA

Former French President Jacques Chirac died at the age of 86 on Thursday, according to local media.

“President Jacques Chirac died this morning among his family. Peacefully,” said his son-in-law, Frederick Salat-Baroux, French daily Le Figaro reported.

Chirac served as president from 1995 to 2007.

He also served two terms as prime minister from 1974 to 1976 and from 1986 to 1988.
