Mercedes team’s five-time World Champion driver Lewis Hamilton won the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix on Sunday.
The 53-lap competition was held along the 5.8-kilometer (3.6 miles) Sochi Autodrom – a street circuit in the Black Sea resort town – ending with British driver Hamilton winning the 16th race of the season with a time of one hour, 33 minutes and 38 seconds.
Valtteri Bottas, another Mercedes team driver, finished 3.8 seconds behind his teammate in second place.
The Russian Grand Prix was the Mercedes team’s 11th win of the season.
Ferrari’s Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc – who started from pole position – ended the race in third place, 5.2 seconds behind the winner.
Today’s victory was Hamilton’s ninth win this season, leading the drivers’ championship with 322 points.
It was also the British driver’s 82nd victory in his Formula 1 career.This season’s 17th race will be held in Japan on Oct.13.
