Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul flat at midweek open

ANKARA 

Turkey’s benchmark stock index dropped by 0.04%, or 44.19 points, to start the midweek at 103,832.37 points.

On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index fell by 1.10% to close the day at 103,876.56 points with a daily trading volume of 9.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.67 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.7390 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to 5.7070 at Tuesday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.2730, versus 6.2310, and one British pound traded for 7.0530 Turkish liras, while it was at 6.9820 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $59.38 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
