ANKARA
Ethiopian male athlete Lelisa Desisa won gold medal in the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships marathon early Sunday.
Desisa completed the men’s marathon in two hours, 10 minutes and 40 seconds to earn the gold medal in Doha 2019.
His compatriot Mosinet Geremew got the silver medal, ending the race four seconds behind Desisa.
Amos Kipruto from Kenya received the bronze medal with a degree of two hours, 10 minutes and 51 seconds.
Turkish athletes Polat Kemboi Arikan and Mert Girmalegesse were unable to complete the marathon.
The World Athletics Championships in Doha will end on Oct. 6.
