Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul starts week down

Turkey’s benchmark stock index started the day down 0.16% or 169.47 points to open at 103,294.05 on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index rose 0.66% to close the day at 103,463.52 points with a daily trading volume of 7.9 billion Turkish liras ($1.39 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.7130 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, versus 5.6980 at Friday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.2740, up from 6.2510, and one British pound traded for 7.0520 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0060.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $58.38 as of 9.45 a.m. local time (0645GMT) on Monday.

Borsa Istanbul announced late Thursday that it had started a continuous trading method from 10:00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (0700-1500GMT) weekdays without break, to harmonize with other global stock exchanges and boost interaction.
