Kenya’s Kipchoge completes marathon in under 2 hours

NAIROBI, Kenya

The atmosphere was electric in Vienna as Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge on Saturday became the first athlete to finish a marathon in under two hours.

Backed by the support of over 46 million Kenyans and his fans across the globe, the famous Kenyan runner sped through the streets of Vienna.

During the run, he maintained a speed of 13 miles per hour and kept smiling all the way through.

Speaking after the race, Kipchoge said: “It has taken 65 years for a human being to make history in sport. I am the happiest man to run under two hours. I am here to inspire everyone that it can be done.”
