Trump says ‘great news’ coming from Turkey after talks

WASHINGTON

U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that “Great news” will soon be coming out of Turkey following hours of bilateral negotiations with officials from both countries.

Trump referred to an upcoming press conference Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will hold after having extensive talks with senior Turkish officials, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“Millions of lives will be saved!” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to @RTErdogan.”

The U.S. delegation had the stated goal of brokering a cease-fire amid Turkey’s ongoing Operation Peace Spring.
