NBA: Clippers beat Lakers 112-102 in Los Angeles clash


Los Angeles Clippers defeated their city rival Los Angeles Lakers in their first game of the regular season at the Staples Center.

Clippers beat Lakers 112-102 in battle of superstars as two-time NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and Anthony Davis made debuts for their teams.

Kawhi Leonard shone with his impressive performance in his debut game with Los Angeles Clippers, producing 30 points, six rebounds and five assists.

On the losing side, LeBron James and Anthony Davis made their first regular season appearances together, although their performances could not avoid loss for their team.

Like Leonard, Davis began a new chapter of his career in Los Angeles.

He posted double-double, scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while his team mate LeBron James produced 18 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

In addition to Lakers’ superstar duo’s performances, Danny Green was the highest scorer for Lakers in a historical night for his career.

Danny Green broke a Lakers franchise record for the most points scored in a Lakers debut after scoring 28 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals.

The previous debut record for Lakers belonged to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who scored 27 points in his first game as a Laker.

In the game of the night, reigning champions Toronto Raptors defeated New Orleans Pelicans 130-122 in overtime at the Scotiabank Arena.

Pascal Siakam’s 34 points and 18 rebounds led Raptors to victory in an exciting game.

Fred VanVleet also dominated the match after producing a career-high 34 points for the Raptors.

Brandon Ingram scored a team-high of 22 points in 35 minutes for Pelicans.
