Turkish clubs aim to end win drought in Europa League

ANKARA 

Turkish football clubs seek their first wins in UEFA Europa League campaign this season in Thursday’s matches.

Besiktas, Basaksehir and Trabzonspor are winless in group stages of the Europa League this season so far.

The representatives of Turkish football had only two draws and four defeats in six matches at the tournament.

Besiktas will face the Portuguese club Braga in Group K match to gain their first win in Europe this season. The match at Vodafone Park will kick off at 7.55 p.m. local time (1655GMT) in Turkey.

Besiktas have been on a disappointing streak for their supporters both in the domestic league and Europe.

The Istanbul team is currently in the 12th place with nine points in Turkish Super Lig.

The club are bottom of the group in Europa League after losing their matches against Slovan Bratislava and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

At the end of the second week matches, Slovakia’s Slovan Bratislava currently top the Group K with four points followed by Braga sharing the same point in standings.

English club Wolverhampton Wanderers stand at the third place with three points.

Trabzonspor to host Krasnodar

Another Turkish team Trabzonpor will host Russian club Krasnodar in Group C match. The match will kick off at 10.00 p.m. local time (1900GMT) in Trabzon’s Medical Park stadium.

Trabzonspor currently sit in third spot with one point in the group.

Basaksehir to face Wolfsberger

Basaksehir, another Turkish team in the Europa League, will take on Austrian club Wolfsberger.

In Group J, Basaksehir are in the last place with one point.

The match will begin at 7.55 p.m. local time (1655GMT) in Turkey’s Fatih Terim Basaksehir Stadium.
