US dispatches reinforcements to oil fields in Syria

The U.S has dispatched more military reinforcements to oil fields in eastern Syria, local sources told Anadolu Agency on Saturday.

After sending 30 military units to the al-Omar oil field in Deir ez-Zor province early in the morning, the U.S. dispatched a second batch of reinforcements to the Rumeylan oil field in northeast Al-Hasakah.

The U.S. is expected to build a new base in the al-Baghouz region of Deir-ez-Zor to ensure the security of the YPG/PKK terror group in the region as well as oil fields in the terrorists’ control, according to Anadolu Agency sources on the ground.

The move came following the U.S.’s withdrawal from military bases in the northeastern Syrian province of Al-Hasakah to northern Iraq.

According to local sources, U.S. forces last Sunday began to withdraw troops from Ash Shaddadi, Life Stone (Istirahat Al-Wazir) and Mount Abdulaziz military bases and two other military points in the province occupied by the YPG/PKK terrorist group.

The troops were pulled out temporarily to Tal Beydar military base northwest of Al-Hasakah province before being moved to northern Iraq through Semalka border crossing.

So far, the U.S. has evacuated four bases and two military points in Al-Hasakah province and is expected to withdraw soon from Rmelan, its last base in the province.

U.S. forces began withdrawing from Syria shortly before Turkey launched Operation Peace Spring on Oct. 9 to eliminate terrorists from northern Syria in order to secure its border, aid in the safe return of Syrian refugees and ensure Syria’s territorial integrity.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union — has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants. The YPG is the Syrian offshoot of the PKK.
