The Turkish football league’s current leader Alanyaspor were limited to a 1-1 draw on Saturday in their away match with Gazisehir Gaziantep.
Alanyaspor got the lead in the 33rd minute with their in-form striker Papiss Cisse, but newly promoted Gazisehir managed to upset the leaders thanks to a 91st-minute goal by Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik.
Alanyaspor, although standing at the top with 18 points in nine matches, are now the winners of only one match in their last five appearances.
Last week’s 5-2 win over Rizespor kept the Mediterranean club in first place, but their draw with Gazisehir may cost them the top spot.
Trabzonspor, winners of their last three league matches, will take on Basaksehir in an away match on Monday, aiming to be the league’s new leaders.
Trabzonspor could topple Alanyaspor from their throne with a win by two goals, as they currently have 15 points in 8 matches with +7 goals difference, compared to Alanyaspor’s +8.
