Turkish stocks go down at Thursday’s close

ANKARA 

Turkey’s benchmark stock index ended the day down 0.23% to close at 98,468.52 points on Thursday.

Starting the day at 98,920.12 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index fell 223.51 points from 98,692.03 points at Wednesday’s close.

During the daily trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 98,171.75 points and 99,201.00 points — 45 stocks on the index rose while 9 fell compared to the previous close.

Closing the day with a market value of 667.1 billion Turkish liras ($116 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 5.7 billion Turkish liras ($1billion).

By market capitalization, Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lenders Garanti BBVA and Akbank were the top companies of BIST 100.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti BBVA, and Akbank.

Shares of furniture manufacturer Dogtas Kelebek Mobılya was the best performer on Thursday, with its shares up 6.60%, while stocks of conglomerate Metro dropped most, down %7.5.

An ounce of gold sold for $1,507.00 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,493.00 at the previous close.

The price of Brent oil was around $59.28 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Thursday — with a day range of $59.22 to $60.80
