Kovac leaves Bayern Munich after humiliating loss

ANKARA

Bayern Munich parted ways with Croatian manager Niko Kovac following a heavy 5-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt in Bundesliga’s 10th week match.

”FC Bayern Munich and head coach Niko Kovac have parted company by mutual consent. That was the result of a discussion with Niko Kovac on Sunday involving FC Bayern president Uli Hoeneß, FC Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and FC Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, during which Niko Kovac offered his resignation,” the club said in a statement on their website to announce the departure on Sunday.

Having won the last seven league titles, Bayern Munich have been on a disappointing streak winning only one of their last four Bundesliga matches this season.

The Bavarians have collected 18 points, as they are four points behind the leaders Borussia Monchengladbach.

RB Leipzig made their way into the record books with a sensational victory over Mainz.

The Bundesliga team broke the club record after thrashing Mainz 8-0 in Saturday’s Bundesliga match at the Red Bull Arena.

German forward Timo Werner shone with his impressive performance, making a hat-trick with three assists for Leipzig.

Leipzig jumped to the third place in the league table with 18 points.

Borussia Monchengladbach beat Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in an away match to maintain their flawless start to Bundesliga.

They have won six of their last seven matches in the league as they top Bundesliga with 22 points.

Borussia Dortmund hammered Wolfsburg 3-0 at home, following Borussia Monchengladbach on the standings with 19 points.
