Football: Finland, Sweden qualify for EURO 2020


The Finnish and Swedish national football squads secured their place in UEFA EURO 2020 by beating their opponents Friday evening.

Finland managed to book their tournament finals debut, defeating Liechtenstein 3-0, boosting their points total to 18 and guaranteeing a second place spot in Group J behind Italy.

Finland’s victory goals came from Jasse Tuominen and Teemu Pukki, who scored a brace.

In Group F, Sweden managed to beat Romania 2-0 and secured their spot to the tournament finals behind Spain.

Marcus Berg and Robin Quaison scored in the first half to get the party started for Sweden.

Norway – Faroe Islands: 4-0

Spain – Malta: 7-0

Romania – Sweden: 0-2

Group J

Finland – Liechtenstein: 3-0

Bosnia and Herzegovina – Italy: 0-3

Armenia – Greece: 0-1

Switzerland – Georgia: 1-0

Denmark – Gibraltar: 6-0
