ANKARA
Eliud Kipchoge, a marathon runner of Kenya, and Dalilah Muhammad, a U.S. hurdler, were named athletes of the year at the World Athletics Awards in Monaco on Saturday.
35-year-old Eliud Kipchoge scooped the male athlete of the year for the second time in a row.
He became the first athlete to finish a marathon in under two hours, running the 26.2 miles (42.2 km) in one hour 59 minutes 40 seconds at Vienna in October.
Dalilah Muhammad, 29, was selected as the female athlete of the year who won the gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles at the 2019 World Championships.
