International bodies urge for an end to hostilities ahead of Eid al Fitr

International organisations are urging for an immediate end to hostilities in Sudan, ahead of the Eid holiday – which marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. Thousands of civilians continue to flee the capital Khartoum, as fierce fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces or RSF continue to escalate. The battle has been raging on for nearly a week, killing more than 270 people. Residents in the capital have been trapped by the fighting amid a growing shortage of food and water supplies.
