Team USA have suffered second defeat in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup as Serbia managed to get 94-89 victory in the Classification Round 5-8 on Thursday.
Following the win over the U.S. at China’s Dongguan Basketball Center, Serbia will now play for the 5th spot in the World Cup.
Sacramento Kings’ shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic was the top performer for Serbia, scoring 28 points and producing six assists.
Serbian forward Vladimir Lucic helped his team with 15 points while Nikola Jokic — the Denver Nuggets forward — had nine points and seven assists.
For Team USA, Harrison Barnes tallied 22 points, grabbed five rebounds and made four assists.
Kemba Walker played with 18 points and eight assists but the Americans couldn’t avoid the loss in Dongguan.
Team USA had their second defeat after losing to France 79-89 in the quarterfinals.
On Saturday, Serbia will face Poland or Czech Republic to come fifth in the World Cup.
