Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul starts day up

Turkey’s benchmark stock index started the day up 0.38% or 392.67 points to open at 103,177.00 points on Friday.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index fell 0.70% to close the day at 102,784.33 points with a daily trading volume of 8.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.49 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.7010 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, versus 5.6950 at Thursday’s close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.2570, down from 6.2680, and one British pound traded for 7.0550 Turkish liras, compared to 7.0810.

One barrel of Brent oil sold for $57.87 as of 9.45 a.m. local time (0745GMT) on Friday.

Borsa Istanbul announced late Thursday that it had started a continuous trading method from 10:00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (0700-1500GMT) weekdays without break, to harmonize with other global stock exchanges and boost interaction.
