Evil Dead Rise – Movie Review by Efe Teksoy

Cinema Writer/Film Critic Efe TEKSOY; wrote the horror and thriller film “EVIL DEAD RISE”, for America’s Los Angeles-based Internet Newspaper @alaturkanews.

Evil Dead Rise, which made its world premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, was released as the fifth installment of Evil Dead, the American supernatural horror series created by American filmmaker Sam Raimi. Produced by New Line Cinema, Warner Bros., Department of Post, Ghost House Pictures, and Wild Atlantic Pictures, Evil Dead Rise, with a budget of $ 19 million, grossing $24.5 million in the United States and Canada and $17.9 million elsewhere, for a total of $42.4 million worldwide, made a quick start to the vision. Making references to horror classics from the opening sequence, the film pays homage to productions such as William Friedkin’s 1973 The Exorcist and Stanley Kubrick‘s The Shining (1980). Also, at the beginning of the movie, British author Emily Brontë‘s classic 1847 novel Wuthering Heights appears. In the 2022 horror film Barbarian, less than a year since the reference to Jane Eyre, is the second horror film to refer to The Brontë Sisters (3 sisters, known for their work that has become one of the classics of English Literature). Using over 1,720 gallons of fake blood, this movie is set in the city, unlike previous movies set in a cabin in the woods. Although the story focuses on the genre of thriller and savagery rather than horror, its subtext deals with the doctrine of metempsychosis, which is called the transfer of the soul to another body. Also, when we remove the fear element from the story, a fragmented family drama story appears before us. In this sense, it stands out in terms of psychological thriller.

The two sisters, who drifted apart over time, reunite after years. But a great danger awaits them.

Stars; Alyssa Sutherland, Mirabai Pease, Richard Crouchley, Anna-Maree Thomas, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, and Billy Reynolds-McCarthy

Filmed in AucklandNew Zealand, it took more than six months to complete the editing of the visual components in an editing room in Dublin. Evil Dead Rise, a horror production that will be enjoyed by Evil Dead series fans, offers impressive suspense to the audience with its supernatural and fantastic story.
